REConvert Joins Solarwatt Family

REConvert Joins Solarwatt Family, Strengthens Power Electronics Expertise

We are excited to announce that REConvert, a specialist in power electronics for battery storage, has been acquired by Solarwatt, a pioneer in solar energy. As a Dutch development company, REConvert has built a reputation for creating cutting-edge electronic solutions with advanced processors and integrated control systems for battery systems.

A Strategic Partnership with Solarwatt

For several years, REConvert has closely collaborated with Solarwatt Innovation, a subsidiary of Solarwatt, in the development of home batteries for solar energy storage. This acquisition marks a logical step in our journey. Michiel van Schalkwijk, Managing Director at Solarwatt Benelux, explains, “With the acquisition of REConvert, we continue our evolution into a sector coupler, enhancing our expertise in power electronics for battery systems and inverters. For our customers and the market, this means expanded energy storage solutions that will now be marketed under the Solarwatt brand.”

A Dutch Solution to Grid Congestion

Last year, Solarwatt introduced the SOLARWATT Battery Flex, a home battery developed in partnership with BMW. REConvert contributed to the development of the battery inverter for this product. Arno van Zwam, former Managing Director of REConvert, elaborates, “In addition to our contributions to battery systems, we’ve developed a solution for grid congestion. Many small to medium-sized businesses that need to upgrade their power connection are unable to do so due to grid limitations. Our solution increases the peak capacity of existing grid connections through the use of a battery inverter and storage system.” Van Schalkwijk adds, “With REConvert producing in the Netherlands, Solarwatt now becomes a Dutch-based manufacturer. This acquisition allows us to offer a local solution to the grid congestion problem with production in the Netherlands.”

Focus on Product Development

Arno van Zwam will co-lead the new Solarwatt sister company alongside Solarwatt CTO Dr. Armin Froitzheim. “We are thrilled to be part of the Solarwatt family,” says van Zwam. “We have a strong team that handles material procurement, sales, logistics, and business development. This allows us to focus on what we truly enjoy and excel at: product development. This is undoubtedly a win-win situation for both companies.”

We look forward to driving innovation in energy storage and addressing key challenges in the energy market, with the support of Solarwatt’s resources and expertise.
